Speaking of Thai, I was quite looking forward to see you mention about the integration of Thai culture into this MV given how you are a fan of T-pop! I think that’s another great thing to talk about the MV. The music here does not do her full potential justice… Having said that, I definitely agree with you that Lisa’s charisma carried this whole song. I don’t follow Blackpink apart from just knowing when their comebacks are released so I don’t really have an emotional attachment to the group. The song still managed to sound enjoyable amidst all of its frustrations, but I don’t think I will be returning to this often… Production Scale If the whole song is based on this theme, not only the song would sound more creative, Lisa would be able to represent the culture of where she’s from as well. The music video also utilizes that, with Lisa wearing a traditional dress dancing in a set that looks like the Phanom Rung Castle, a historical site at her hometown Buriram. ![]() The sudden change in the instrumental that incorporates Thai instruments is really cool. Lisa repeating her name everywhere in the song sounds less awkward than I thought it would be. Just say, Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me (Hey) Call me, Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me (Hey) Oh-ooh, attitude, the loudest in the room (Hoo) Bridge You gon’ still love me You need some L-A-L-I-S-A. The song is fun and extremely catchy, but it lacks any new ideas. The song is quite reminiscent of CL’s The Baddest Female in music and delivery, mix that with a few other hip-hop songs, and you get a song called LALISA. A hip-hop track laced with multiple rap verses and a chorus with repetition, those same beat samples, perhaps a dance break here and there. LALISA sounds exactly like what you would expect from a YG rapper solo release. A lot of the song has already been done before. It sounds like a special rap performance intro at an awards show rather than a song on its own, the bragging and the aesthetics really overpower the music itself. It’s hard to treat LALISA as an actual song. ![]() (BLACKPINK and their album names…) Instead of delivering a full group comeback, this year seems to be the time for rolling out the promised solo releases from the members. Months after Rose’s On The Ground, Lisa is the third member to drop her solo release, titled LALISA.
